Yvonne is an empathetic therapist who has military experience. Originally from Denver, CO, she moved to San Antonio in 2018 with the military and retired in 2020. She devoted over 22 years to empowering and guiding others to be successful in becoming the person they wanted to be while serving their country. Before retiring she realized her heart was pulling her towards becoming a professional therapist, so she began her journey in 2016, where she attended Wayland Baptist University and received her graduate degree in Counseling.
On this journey she has worked in different levels of care, such as in private practice and residential treatment facility, where she was apart of a new Mission Resilience program that focused on veterans and first responders. She also enjoys volunteering, and leads a women’s trauma support group at her church. Yvonne believes everyone has a treasure within themselves, each person is beautifully unique, like a diamond, and it takes courage to be willing to start digging through the mess life has given us to find our healing and our truth.
Establishing a working collaborative relationship is important to Yvonne because she wants her clients to feel accomplished as they work through their difficulties in a safe and trusting environment. She enjoys working with adolescents and adults with a wide variety of presenting concerns, but trauma and faith based counseling hold a special place in her heart. In sessions, she utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Yvonne recognizes each person is unique and aligns the therapy to fit the person’s needs.
In her off time, to practice self-care, she enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones, crossfit, spending time outdoors, dancing, traveling with her daughter ~Jaya, and eating good tasting food.
