The Case for Day Treatment

Do you ever wish you had the time, energy, and resources to just focus on YOU for a bit? If it feels like work and/or school are too much, then you may be a good candidate for day treatment, also known as a partial hospitalization program (PHP).

Partial hospitalization programs, or PHPs, provide at least six hours of treatment per day, 5-7 days per week. This allows one to receive intensive therapy on a daily basis while still returning home each night. This can be ideal for those who have children, pets or other responsibilities at home from which it would be difficult to step away.

How do you know if you are appropriate for day treatment?  If you are experiencing the following, PHP may be a fit for you:

- struggling with motivation to accomplish daily tasks

-constantly late to or calling out from work or school

-inability to get out of bed some days

-not sleeping at night

-feeling depressed and hopeless

-being uncomfortable leaving the house

-feeling unsafe being alone

-intense or recurring  flashbacks and/or nightmares

-feeling detached from others

-significant over or under eating

-sleeping on the couch

-urges to self-harm

If you are not experiencing late-night suicidality, then day treatment may be the least restrictive - and most effective - option for you. Partial hospitalization can provide significant support while providing support to make changes in the home environment that can be beneficial for recovery  in the long-term.
